She joined Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling in 2013, aged 18, and has now chosen to move to Matrix Fitness Pro Cycling for 2015, saying she feels more sure of herself than she did aged 18.

The Welsh rider took the Junior ITT World title in Valkenburg last month ending her season on a high including several European junior track titles and medals at the Junior Track World Championships.

Elinor Barker is clearly a woman in a hurry. An Olympic gold medal, a world points race title, an MBE, studying for an Open University degree, learning sign language and buying a house might constitute a pretty reasonable lifetime's CV, but Barker has managed to cram all that - and more - into the last 12 months.
