Wendy Houvenaghel, like many of the British Olympians, manages to combine track and road riding but specialises in the former. A late developer, it was not until 2005 that Wendy competed at World level, winning the track World Cup in the 3km individual pursuit.

Twice a winner of the UCI World Track Cup for the Women’s Pursuit, Wendy has pulled out some scintillating rides in the last year or so and has been busy preparing at the Manchester Velodrome for the Copenhagen World Track Cup event and the big one that follows, the Manchester UCI Track Worlds.

Wendy Houvenaghel, UCI World Track Cup Champion was in winning form at the Manchester World Track Cup with teammate Rebecca Romero taking the Silver medal. Both are looking to make the GB team for Beijing and come away from those Olympics with more Gold.
