Surprising career change by Elijzen
Posted by: DZI (26 November 2010 15:36)
Michiel Elijzen will be a new Directeur Sportif for Omega Pharma-Lotto in 2011, a career move that comes as a complete surprise. Elijzen, who is only 28 years-of-age, quits his active cycling career after having ridden for the Belgian team for the last two years. The first three professional years were spent with the youths of the Rabo squad before Elijzen moved to the French based Cofidis team in 2006. He called France 'home' for two years, only to return in 2008 to the elites of Rabobank for one year, followed by his final transfer to the Belgians. Michiel Elijzen has two professional victories to his name, one of which he got in the 2007 Eneco Tour when he won the prologue and led the field into day two.
We wish him the best of luck in his new job at Omega Pharma-Lotto.
