It's heating up Down Under
Posted by: DZI (12 November 2010 16:05)

Last night it became clear that double Tour Down Under Champ André Greipel, now riding for Omega Pharma - Lotto, will be taking part in the 2011 edition of the race. Tyler Farrar's participation for Garmin - Cervélo has been announced earlier this week, which guarantees sparks flying and 'hot mass bunch sprints' between two of the most talented sprinters of this decade. Not bad for a race in January!

Omega Pharma - Lotto is in fact the first team releasing its line up to the organisation. While Matthew Lloyd has said he'd take part in this edition of the Tour Down Under, he is currently not on the first version of the startlist. For now Mario Aerts, Olivier Kaisen, Jürgen Roelandts and the trio coming over from HTC-Columbia, Adam Hansen, Vicente Reynes en Marcel Sieberg complete the Belgium based team.

That is brilliant news for the tour in Australia as they usually only manage to attract one top sprinter to their race. The Tour does have to do without local hero Cadel Evans, yet they are already sure of Lance Armstrong's presence. The "Cancer Classic" logically has something to do with Armstrong riding one last time as both the Classic and the American's "Livestrong Foundation" set the same goals.
