Robert Hunter, despite an ongoing contract of one year from Garmin, decided to switch to Pegasus. The South African rider thought he was sacrificed too much for Tyler Farrar's chances, and after both Haussler and Hushovd had signed for Garmin, he drew his conclusions. Now joining the team of Robbie McEwen, he expects to ride as many as possible European races, preferably those organized by ASO.Fabian Cancellara received the reward for a great cycling year in France. The Velo d'Or went to the Swiss rider with a wide lead over Alberto Contador, while Andy Schleck was third. Schleck also won the Velo d'Or Espoirs in front of Vincenzo Nibali and Mark Cavendish.
Moreover, it remains exciting for which team Cancellara will ride in 2011. According to several sources, the offers from Sky and BMC Racing Team were declined, making the transition to the Luxembourg based Leopard True Racing team the most logical next step.
Bryan Nygaard meanwhile denies that the new team will be called Leopard True Racing team. This would only indicate the project name which aims to create the new team.
So it remains to be seen for both the real team name as the choice of Fabian Cancellara.
Geox has strengthened its team with two talents of Italian origin. Daniele Ratto comes from CarmioOro-NGC. For Tomas Alberio this is his first professional contract, but is nevertheless not a blank page: In 2010 he won the GP Industrie del Marmo and rode to two stage victories in the Volta do Rio de Janeiro. Both riders are 21 years of age.
Franco Pellizotti can look forward with sufficient interest during his vacation. According to his agent Alex Carrera Sky Team, Geox, Astana, Acqua e Sapone and Movistar all show special interest. Pellizotti's Liquigas contract expires at the end of 2010.
