Zehn Tage ist es her, dass über eine Pressemitteilung ihres Teams Specialized-Lululemon das Karriereende von Ina-Yoko Teutenberg bekannt gegeben wurde. Mit Radsport News sprach die 38-Jährige, die im März bei der "8 van Dwingeloo" aufs Gesicht gestürzt war und wegen den Folgen der dabei zugezogenen schweren Gehirnerschütterung seitdem nicht mehr richtig trainieren konnte, über ihre Laufbahn, ihre Zukunft und nötige Veränderungen in ihrem Sport. Zehn Tage nach Bekanntgabe ihres Karriereendes sprach Felix Mattis für Radsport News lange mit Ina-Yoko Teutenberg. Im ersten Teil des Interviews, den wir am Sonntag veröffentlichten, blickten die beiden auf die Laufbahn und das schwere letzte Jahr der 38-jährigen Top-Sprinterin zurück. Im zweiten Teil spricht Teutenberg über die Probleme des Frauen-Radsports und erklärt, wie ihm vergleichsweise einfach geholfen werden könnte. Einige Aspekte an ihm gefallen ihr sogar besser als am Männer-Radsport.

Earlier this month Mara Abbott became the first American to win the Giro Donne, following up on her second place finish last year. The race was marked by HTC-Columbia sprinter Ina-Yoko Teutenberg taking an astounding four-in-a-row wins on the first four stages.

The most successful member of the team in 2009, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg, has sprinted to victory twenty times this year. Her ability to transfer her power skills on the flat to get her over the climbs and on to the finish, makes her the outstanding sprinter for the season so far.

Ina-Yoko is a rider with a huge amount of experience and a fiery personality. In the last few years she has won multiple World Cup races and over the years she has won 11 stages of Tour de l'Aude, 6 stages of the women's Tour de France and stage wins in all other major tours around the world.

With eleven wins in UCI races, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg has already made her mark on this season. The first was in February in Australia, the last just two weeks ago in France. In the final World Cup race in Nuremberg, the top sprinter from T-Mobile would like to make it a dozen.

Judith Arndt and Ina-Yoko Teutenberg turned in impressive performances at the Holland Ladies Tour and the World Cup leg in Rotterdam last week. With two stage wins and her victory in Rotterdam, Teutenberg showed she’s in fine form ahead of Sunday’s Word Cup finale in Nuremberg.
