The roll call of pursuit world champions is a veritable who’s who of women’s cycling. The latest in a long list of big personalities with strong engines and hefty résumés is Joanna Rowsell. Cycling found her while at school and she’s now at the top of the podium.

Joanna Rowsell is a cyclist on the Great Britain Cycling Team. She competed at the London 2012 Olympics where she won Gold in the Women’s Team Pursuit. She is currently the National, European and World Champion, and also the World record holder for this event.

Thousands of visitors will travel today to the Birmingham NEC for this year’s Cycle Show, which will be officially opened by Joanna Rowsell. The Olympic gold medalist, and more recently, British time trial champion, was one of the faces of last year’s show, just a month after her success with Laura Trott and Dani King in the women’s team pursuit. The mission statement for London 2012 was to inspire a generation, and the Cycle Show gives her the opportunity to witness the effect first hand.

Joanna Rowsell is a cyclist on the Great Britain Cycling Team and is currently training for the Team Pursuit at the London 2012 Olympics. When Joanna is not racing on the track, she rides for Horizon Fitness in the UK and Europe.

Jo Rowsell won a gold and a bronze medal at the cycling World Cup Classic in Manchester last month. She was part of the record breaking women’s squad which became the first team to win every World Cup women’s track event in a single race meeting.

Our final interview during the training camp was with a rider who shot to prominence in 2006 and after a quiet year in 2007 is now challenging for a spot in the Women’s Team Pursuit which GB will contest at the Manchester World Track Championships.
