Three-times Tour winner Alberto Contador is an honorary citizen of his hometown Pinto. Mayor Juan José Martín said that "Contador is an example of sacrifice, dedication and determination." The council vote was unanimous on this issue.

Meanwhile the cycling world has been waiting a week for the decision by the UCI / WADA, on positive tests for Clenbuterol during the last Tour de France. Just last week Pat McQuaid promised a "speedy dispatch within a few hours, the wait is only on the WADA results." The question is whether WADA knows about the existence of Email as this issue is dragging on for far too long, and Contador's new Team Saxo Bank Sungard therefore still uncertain about the outcome.

Bjarne Riis hopes that all will turn out well, he believes the explanation of Contador on the contaminated meat. Thor Hushovd finds it strange that Contador - in view of the proceedings against him - has been declared an honorary citizen in his hometown and is concerned that Contador might get a more lenient treatment than other riders. "He should be treated as any other rider. If he has deceived the whole thing, he must be punished. If that is two years, he has to accept."

Hushovd thereby also explains the difference in thinking about the suspected exposure between Southern and Northern Europe: "It testifies to a different culture" is his response to the seemingly uncritical Contador appointment of an honorary citizen.
It is hoped that the UCI will soon resolve the issue so the rumors can be stopped and the teams have clarity before planning the coming season.
